Upon arrival at Avalon, all bunnies receive veterinary evaluation and care, including flea and mite treatment as needed. Bunnies are vaccinated for RHDV2, and most are spayed/neutered before being adopted. For those that are not fixed prior to adoption (this can happen when a baby is adopted before being old enough for surgery), we work with adoptive families to make that happen ASAP, using our vet or theirs. Until the bunnies are fixed, we consider them as a "foster to adopt" status. Spaying and neutering bunnies is incredibly important for their overall health and general wellbeing.

Did You Know....
Rabbits are very intelligent and loving animals. They can easily learn their names, become litter-box trained, and form a close bond with their humans :)
House rabbits have an average lifespan of 8 - 12 years!
Rabbits get along well with dogs and cats. In a muti-species household, usually the bunny is in charge :)
Rabbits should be spayed/neutered by a vet who specializes in exotic animals, and the procedure can cost around $300. Our bunnies go to their new adoptive homes after they are fixed, or, in rare cases, with a spay/neuter contract.
